“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”- Proverbs 27:17
This verse has been on my mind a lot lately. I love how God sometimes just takes verses, lays them on our hearts, and then shows us they are true and still applicable. This verse has been made alive to me in the recent weeks more times than I can count. Everywhere I look, there are friends around me, continually pushing, encouraging, challenging, and sharpening me.
One thing I’ve learned about this experience is that it is not always pleasant. When a blade is sharpened, it is rubbed against a rough surface, often tearing and breaking away jagged edges to make the surface smooth and sharp. And the same is applied to people: Being sharpened, often, is unpleasant but necessary.
I hope this verse can be as much an encouragement to you as it was and is to me! May God show you the people in your life that are acting as your iron, so that you may cherish them all the more.
May God bless you!
