Gifted with Friends
When the week is filled with stress and long hours, it is often nice to have something to look forward to. Sometimes, the weekend is that something. This past weekend was a perfect example of having something to look forward to. Like most weekends should be, there was plenty of rest and time to enjoy a break from the busy schedule that student teaching brings. However, even though I have been off campus full-time during the week, I have been blessed to find time to visit Spring Arbor during the weekend. This past weekend, I stayed away from campus and still found time in my weekend to see a friend.
In downtown Chelsea, there is plenty to do; being 25 minutes from Spring Arbor’s campus, I am still unable to do as much with my Spring Arbor friends. On Saturday night, I heard news that a high school friend of mine was in the area, and it was at that time I knew I would be seeing some company.
We shared Scripture, updated each other with news on our lives, and told some interesting stories – all of this was over a small cup of coffee. Since I have moved off campus, these simple moments have kept me motivated to push on during this new journey in my life. I have appreciated this new adventure in my life, student teaching and preparing for my post-graduate life, but I still reminisce the times I called myself a full-time on-campus student. When I visit a friend from my past, I cannot help but make the most of those times.
As our lives change rapidly, it is crucial our friendships do not. When life gets tough, it is good to know you have friends who consistently speak into your life. Keep the friends you have, and never forget the impact they have had and could have on you in the future.
Never forget your blessings,
Josh
