Cougars…Win!

20 February 2012 ~ Comments Off

Tuesday night, our home team did an awesome job and shot for the win at the basketball game. Knowing how important this game was to the guys, the crowd was hyped, the cheerleaders were pumped and the atmosphere was just sure to give the players the encouragement that they needed. Even down to the last nine seconds of the game, it was clear to see that the Cougars won, but they played to the very last second. Everyone was very proud of them. Even though I couldn’t stand and cheer with the cheer squad due to an injury, I still cheered in the stands along with peers and parents. I had my poms in hand showing all the spirit that I could lol. The game was so intense but exciting at the same time. I really enjoyed it. Everyone should come out again, this Saturday, Feb. 18, and support the guys who play against Huntington. Come on out and show how Cougar Crazy you are, and let’s cheer on our home team for another win. I can’t wait until Saturday, I know that the guys will perform very well. The game starts at 3:00 p.m at the fieldhouse.

Hope to see everyone there =)

Peace and Love

Ending of Career Week

20 February 2012 ~ Comments Off

So career week is quickly coming to an end. I’m glad that I was able to participate and attend some of the seminars held this year. They have really been helpful in helping me take into consideration things that I need to be aware of when going in for an interview, completing my resume, and networking. If you have not been to some of the workshops there is one that I’m going to attend Thursday, Feb. 16. There are poster all over campus letting you know the name of the workshop, the time, and the place. The one I’m attending is about successful interviewing. I’m very interested in what I will be learning. I want to understand the proper protocol that is needed to insure that any interview that I go through turns out successful. It is always important to remember also that a resume gets me an interview and the interview will get me the job. Knowing the “do’s and don’ts” in this arena will help me prepare to the best of my ability and allow me to maximize my opportunities. I will be sure to jot down a few notes and pay good attention. The proper preparation equals success, and that’s what I’m gearing up for.

Red Lobster’s Biscuits!

20 February 2012 ~ Comments Off

Commercials advertise restaurants with platters of eye appealing, mouth watering food especially their dinner rolls and biscuits. In most places where I’ve dined the bread is normally served first. The commercials have been misleading in many cases. When you pick up a biscuit should it crumble to pieces? Uh NO! Should it taste like cake batter? Yuck! Should it look unappetizing? No way! There’s no question when it comes to Red Lobster’s biscuits. I absolutely love to eat there, because of their delicious biscuits. They have a wonderful taste. The biscuits are both fluffy and buttery. I cannot guess the seasoning they use, but it is not too overwhelming to my taste buds. What makes the taste better is the smell. Whenever I need a wonderful treat, I order a side of biscuits to satisfy my appetite. The texture of the biscuits are delightful and appealing. In most seafood restaurants you get an entrée of  buttery, rough textured garlic bread sticks or biscuits. Red Lobster gives you biscuits that are never to flakey. They are just right and this is simply quality. They are better than your normally made “out the box” biscuits. Their biscuits look, feel, smell, and taste exceptional. Any food critic would absolutely love these whether for a snack or for dinner. I enjoy eating the biscuits because they excite my taste buds. I love Red Lobster’s delicious biscuits.

Come see the recital - April 12 at 7:30!

Come see the recital - April 12 at 7:30!

One of the best things about Spring Arbor University is the community. I love that when a person is in need, there is always someone there to help you out. Well today I got to be the person who was able to help and it’s a great feeling.

My friend Kyle is having a recital (all music majors are required to do recitals every now and then) and needed a poster to be made. Being a graphic design major, I’ve made plenty of posters so I volunteered to help. I love being able to help out a friend. It’s a great feeling.

I don’t write this post to uplift myself, but to show the wonderful community at SAU. There have been countless times when I’ve needed help and was able to get bailed out by some great friends. It really is a true example of Galatians 6:2 – “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ”

I love the friends I have here and the community we all share. You can be a part of this community by coming to support my good friend Kyle at his recital, April 12, at 7:30 p.m.!

God bless!

Successful Interviewing

20 February 2012 ~ Comments Off

Yesterday was the rapping up of career week. I attended the successful interviewing seminar. It was very helpful and needed to say the least. You only have one time to make a good impression! Making sure that I am prepared for a successful interview is very important when trying gain a job in this economy. At the successful interviewing workshop, I learned a lot of things that I need to take into consideration before I actually attend the interview. Before attending an interview, being prepared and confident will always motivate and give me the energy I need to continue on. Moreover, doing your homework in advance is most crucial. Firstly, I learned that I should always research the company that I am trying to work for. It’s always smart to increase your knowledge of a company and be prepared if the employer asks about what you know about their company. Filling out an application is important, too. A lot of people think that a resume is the application but the application process is important as well. This workshop was very helpful and now I am able to better asses myself before going into an interview. I know, essentially, that the proper preparation obviously equals success in any area. Successful interviewing skills are very essential in the field that I am going into. I want to make sure that I follow all the steps that are needed in order to leave a wonderful impression whether I receive the position that I am interviewing for or not.

Let’s Show Some Love

13 February 2012 ~ Comments Off

We all know that this is February. This is the month of Valentine’s day. It is crucial that we not only show love just on that specific day, but every day. The amount of love and compassion that Jesus shows to us daily should be enough to make us strive to be like Him and do the same. There are multiple ways for us to show love to our classmates, friends and teachers as we go throughout the day. Opening up a door, a smile, and even being attentive and showing respect to our professors are all ways that we can practice and show love. Romans 13:8 says; “Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.” If Christ can think enough of us to love us despite ourselves, we should make it our obligation to do the same. John 3:16 says; “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. The reality of it all is that God loves us and it’s not because of anything that we’ve done but He loves us unconditionally. In our effort to be more like Him we should try and love our neighbor unconditionally and be excepting of everyone.

So show some love today, tomorrow, always, and forever!!! =)
