Taking my Sabbath
The last Sunday of J-term has arrived. It’s weird to pretty much be done with one of my last J-terms at Spring Arbor University!! Not sure how I feel about it just yet.
But being that it is Sunday, this is the day that I love to just relax. As scripture says, the “Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.” So I got up and enjoyed some fellowship with friends at the Free Methodist Church on campus and then made my way back to my apartment for a nice quiet afternoon.
I learned last semester the importance of taking one day to rest. Someone, last year, shared with me that not taking a day of rest is like trying to outdo God, because even He took one day out of seven to rest. Well I fully recognize that I am not better than God, so I have learned to enjoy my day of rest and recognize it as a gift from God.
How do you choose to rest? Do you always do it on Sunday? Or do you even observe the Sabbath? Let me know! I’m curious!
Today, I chose to fully enjoy my rest by preparing one of my favorite meals: Chicken paddies! Love ‘em!!
God bless!
